Dear friend,
Let me tell you a secret. A confession. I have real troubles and headaches with my PC even though (you may not believe this):
I am a software application developer with 10 years experience!
In my work I create programs (or “applications”) for PC’s day in and day out to help people with different kinds of problems. A shining example of a computer expert … well I should be!
Yet despite my hard-sweat-earned PC knowledge and years of experience I still have major headaches with the most basic “school-boy” errors and slowness problems on Windows Vista. I am often searching Google for help, or asking colleagues at work for help, and they don’t know either. No one can answer my cries for help!
Yikes! Home computers should not be slow
I think … what must this be like for my poor grandma, my agonised aunt or frustrated uncle… or anyone else who was not brought up on a diet of fast-TV and modern technology? Why is this stuff so difficult?
The answer is simple: It’s Microsoft
That’s right. Okay I may be biting the hand that feeds me (and you) here… but bear with me, this is important.
Microsoft have progressively made things more complicated over the years, and the pinnacle of their bloated, slow, unresponsive operating systems is Windows Vista. Have you noticed the stealthy “Windows Update” tool, which relentlessly downloads updates and security fixes from the bowels of Microsoft HQ and installs them?
